It's Almost Here

The youngest child in your family is bringing home information about the next exciting 5 school days!
It is Lutheran Education Celebration Week!

I have one tip for you!  Please put your child's musical clothing into a bag in their backpack!  The students will need...a plain T-shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes (we can use gym shoes if we need too).
There are a few extra shirts in my classroom for any child in need of a plain shirt. You do not need to purchase one if you do not have one.  Please let me know if your child needs to borrow from me so I am prepared.  A quick email will solve the problem. kfritz@stjohn.merrill.wi.us

They will need these clothes on Tuesday for Dress Rehearsal and on Thursday for the matinee performance! They will bring their backpacks home on Tuesday and then you will have the clothes to dress them in for the performance on Tuesday night! Please put them back into the back in their backpacks and they will be ready for Thursday Luncheon Performance!  I hope this helps you to get organized for a very fun week!

I will see your students with Camo Clothing on Monday.  We will start our day with devotions in the church.  It will be fun to see how many different treats the students bring on Monday.  The afternoon will be special as we eat those treats together in our Camo Attire!

We will be learning about and celebrating our Lutheran Heritage all next week!

*WE WILL NOT HAVE SPELLING WORDS, A SPELLING TEST,  OR MEMORY WORK NEXT WEEK!

WORK, Work, work...work

We had a great deal of classroom work time, but I noticed several students decided not to use our work time.  They are chosing to take home too much work!

Please set a reasonable amount of work time for tonight.
Give your child a clear "school work" goal!

Homework should be checking over sentences, signing tests, signing the memory verse, & AR reading.

Helpers and Homework

HOMEWORK
I believe I have a majority of the Workbooks. We used T.I.C. (Together in Class) today.
*We have completed pages 1 - 23.  We did not work on page 22
Memory Work needs to be learned for next week
AR (some students are trying to finish a one point book this weekend)
Science - Work on ways to make your "heart" paper airplane fly farther.
Reading - reread "Luke Goes to Bat"

The day was packed with grand blessings including learning who Valentine really was!
The Spirit used him to spread faith in the one true God when people were worshiping idols.
It was against the law in Rome which caused him to be put in prison & eventually killed.
He inspired Christians to show God's love to one another.
It was not meant to be a holiday of married bliss, but a celebration of a life lived for God!
So Be a Valentine to someone!  Encourage their faith in God to grow!!!!

HELPERS!
Mrs. VanDeWeerd came to wash school doors on Wed., she cleaned the computer room, & gave us some help with our party today!

Mrs. Steffen came last week to help me measure bulletin board paper and cut paper for the AR board which is more of a job than you can imagine!

Mrs. Wood came to help today.  She was busy laminating some of the Art for our Auction Basket. Then she laminated more information for the AR board.

This help is wonderful.  Sometimes I have work for helpers and sometimes I don't.
These 3 ladies came to ask at just the right moments.

If you would like to help out there is always a need for someone to keep us healthy.  We need someone to daily wipe down doors and handrails.

I would like another adult on Monday's from 12:45 to 1:40.  Mrs. Vincent comes at that time and then I could split the group of 23 into a couple smaller groups.
It is a short amount of time that moves by very quickly and I am sure it will be fun!

Wed. Worship and Pictures

Tomorrow is the day we begin with worshipping our Lord.

Pictures for the yearbook will begin after worship.

If you own something in a shade of red please wear it for our "heart" picture.
Your child can also dress in layers or bring a different shirt for our choir picture.

It will be a busy day of smiling!

Schoolwork VS Homework

My students seem confused as to when to accomplish their work.

We have plenty of class time devoted to your child being successful with their work.

Today I was shocked to find many students chosing to put away incomplete work to do things they wanted to do instead!  It is not my goal to cause hours of work at home!

Your child is directed and expected to complete work here and check it over at home.  If your child is arriving home with a great deal of incomplete homework you need to have a chat with them.

When it comes to "Schoolwork VS Homework" please make sure to insist on Schoolwork.
Homework should be checking over sentence structure and possibly finishing the last question.

We even learn most of our Memory Verses at school!  I am going to be using a new quick note for you it is TIC, this means Together In Class. Yes, some of the work your children make you struggle with is work we did Together In Class.
